Cubby holes, boxes, abandoned grocery bags (and even those not yet abandoned) and camera bags (especially the lens pockets). If it has a curled up cat-sized indentation or provides excellent ambush cover you can bet that Gaius is going to be filling it up with his furry business. Here he is at home awaiting to pounce some pant legs or bare feet from his carpet tunnel.
Urgh! As everyone has probably noticed there is a delay in the announcement of the winner of the Raise a Paw Contest. Not feeling up to snuff health-wise kind of put a krink in plans…. talk about crummy timing.
But do not fear… the results will be posted shortly, although we won’t be able to do the Video as we wanted to do… trust me when I say that we will be saving you an eyesore and possibly turning you in to stone from watching a video.
We are also going to add permanent links to all the Charities and Causes that everyone Raised a Paw for, we’ll be adding your name and a link back to your blog as well as your Charity or Cause link. There were sooo many wonderful Causes and Charities that we were made aware of that we felt they deserve to be up all year long.
We all hope that you are all excited and will forgive this little hiccup in the plans.
Soon we will be announcing the Grand Prize Winner and we will also be providing site badges to everyone who participated, so you can show it proud that you Raised a Paw

before I get into the explanation behind this monster pile of sweet sweet goodness, I must say that Gaius and I are SUPER PROUD of everyone out there Raising a Paw for the contest. There are soooo many fantastic entries and the causes are all super! Good luck to all of you! And for those who have not yet entered… you still have time so get your Paws up
So what is this pile of brown and white goodness here? You’re right in guessing it is not a kitty named Gaius, but he is just as sweet.
Gaius’ Mom-Bean had mentioned before about doing some photography work for a couple great new clients. Well, one of them is a candy company (we will release the name and links to purchase some of these nums nums for those interested… afterall we humans need treats too!). Kelly is currently working on the shots that will grace the candy packages that will be on store shelves.
So how much chocolate is here? Right around 40 pounds. That’s 18 Kg for our metric using friends.
Do you think we have enough? hehehehe
Ahhh… beginnings They are always a wonderful and exciting things. Since we are sooo busy lately, we thought it might be fun to show you Gaius the Cat on the very first day we brought him home. A little FurBaby Picture something only our fellow Pet Parent Friends can appreciate. I mean come on… we are all crazy Cat and Pet People here right 
And there’s not a darn thing wrong with that.
Things are getting even more exciting with Beans here at Gaius’ house. There is the possibility of something pretty cool that we can’t peep about yet, but rest assured when we are able we’ll be yowling it from the rooftops.
Gaius’ Mom-Bean just received 24 POUNDS of chocolate covered candies (and about half again as much more expected tomorrow) for a product shoot, so she’ll be working on that very soon. Once the shoot is all finished we might have to do a Stupid Human Tricks contest or something to give away some delectables, otherwise Kelly won’t be able to fit her rump through the doorway. We’ll be sure to link you all to the place that will be selling these goodies and you might even see them in your local stores. You can point and say “I know who did that picture!” when you see them hehehe. I’ll have to post a picture of the chocolate madness… chocolate is Human Nip for sure!
Also… GREAT contest entries so far. Gaius has been pawing at the screen, I think he has been trying to give high fives all around to all the pets who have been putting so much hard work into Raising a Paw. So give yourselves High Furry Fives and keep those entries and Causes coming!

Wait a sec… not so sweet right now… I better run as I can hear him climbing a curtain right now and he knows better. Sheesh!
Wow, it’s been a little while hasn’t it! Even though we haven’t posted in a couple of days we are still around. Gaius’ Dad-Bean is gearing up for an Art Exhibit in Seattle that he is showing his work at (very exciting stuff) and Gaius’ Mom-Bean is busy busy working on the Cookbook deal for Hungry Girl, which will be ready for the bookshelves in Spring ‘08.
We have some time this weekend ( and we might sneak something in this week when we catch our breath) to get some more pictures of Mister Gaius up to his antics.
So far we have been loving the contest submissions and all the causes have been awesome, keep on practicing for those flashy boxes and we will keep poking our heads back in here to see what everyone is up to when we get the chance.

Well, little Gaius is pooped after the big announcement of the Raise a Paw Contest! After all he does so much around here… like stealing the computer chair every chance he gets. It’s hard being a busy Contest Overseer!
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month (LCAM). This is a cause that strikes dear to our hearts here as we lost an incredibly special and wonderful man and Father on June 29th, 2007, Gary Cline.
We know that we are only one small voice, but with the help of friends and furriends our voices get louder together and we can spread awareness about this killer. If you get the chance sometime this month be sure to let others know that it is LCAM and help spread awareness.
We will be sporting our Pearl Ribbon all month long to spread the word and to honor a man who left us too soon.
CONTEST DAY IS FINALLY HERE!!! YAY!!!
We can hardly believe it and we are all super excited for what we hope will be a spectacular event! Thank you to all our Furriends who have been adding to the excitement by stopping by this last week while the preparations were underway.
As all our Furriends know, Gaius the Cat and his Beans are all about raising awareness about good causes. Be that Human or Animal Causes and Charities, it does not matter to us. We support causes that are very near to our hearts, things that have had a profound affect on us in life. For example, we will be switching our Pink Ribbon to a Pearl Ribbon to Raise a Paw in awareness for Lung Cancer for the month of November in honor of Gary Cline, father to Gaius’s Mom-Bean, who passed away this past June. He loved animals and we know he would have enjoyed the spunk and vitality of Gaius if he had the chance to have met him. We loved him very much.
We know that all of you out there have your own Causes and Charities that you support. We want to know what those Causes and Charities are and what makes them special to you and your pets. Your Cause or Charity can be anything that you want to support, it does not have to be pet related.
Your wonderful Pets are going to help you with this contest, because they are going to Raise a Paw to help you support your cause. You just need to snap a picture of them while they Raise a Paw.
This will indeed be a photo contest. The only thing your pet needs to be doing is Raising a Paw in the picture and the only thing you need to do is tell us what Cause or Charity your pet is helping you raise awareness about. Submit a link to your story and photo of your pet Raising a Paw under this blog post (you may want to bookmark it for later) by Friday Midnight PST November 30th, 2007.
We will be printing the pictures that you each submit and placing them into sealed envelopes in a big fish bowl. Then we will be posting a video of the semi-live drawing of the winner right here for everyone to see. So no judgements or voting, and everyone gets a fair chance at winning and contest pageantry is always more fun! The Raise a Paw Awards Show 2007 will air on December 9th, 2007 at 7:00pm PST. So get out the sequins, bow-ties, feather boas and popcorn for a fun night full of excitement!
What is the prize? I knew you’d be wondering hehehe
The contest awards are:
$25.00 Gift Card to PetSmart and $25.00 Donated in you and your Pet’s name to the Charity you are Raising a Paw for.

3. Entry must include the following: Photo of your pet “Raising a Paw” for the Cause or Charity you and your pet support and a short why. (real photo not photoshoped please)
4. Post your Entry on your own blog, but in order for your Entry to be valid you must post a link to your Entry under this blog post. Please bookmark this blog post to make it easier to find, use the trackback feature or you can find it under the Contests link on the left side of the page.
5. By entering the contest you grant Gaius the Cat and his Beans the permission to print off your Entries for use in the Contest and the permission to re-post any images entered for Contest news (we will give you credit and link backs, of course).
